Charity & non-profit

Websites for charities and non-profits.

Charity websites carry more operational weight than most. Donations, memberships, events and volunteers all run through them, and the budget spent building them is accountable to somebody.

Donations Supporter records Accountable budgets
The situation

Several jobs, one site, limited budget.

A charity site usually has to explain the cause, take donations, sell or administer memberships, handle event bookings, recruit volunteers and keep trustees informed. Commercial sites rarely carry that many distinct jobs, and charities carry them on smaller budgets.

The consequence is that prioritisation matters more than anywhere else. The honest question is which of those jobs brings in money or saves staff time, and doing those properly rather than doing all of them adequately.

The other recurring problem is supporter data. Donations in one system, memberships in another, event attendance in a spreadsheet, and no single view of a person who may be all three. Connecting those is frequently worth more than redesigning anything.

What matters

Where the money and the time go.

Donations that work

Quick on a phone, with Gift Aid captured properly and regular giving as easy as a one-off. Small friction here costs real income.

Memberships and renewals

Subscriptions that renew without chasing, which for membership charities is the difference between stable and declining income.

Events and bookings

Member rates, capacity and attendance handled without a spreadsheet.

One view of a supporter

Donations, memberships and attendance connected, so you know who your supporters actually are.

Staff and volunteer time

Reducing the admin that falls on a small team, which is usually the clearest return available.

Accessibility

Genuinely done rather than claimed. For organisations serving the public this is a reasonable expectation.

Straight answers

Being straight about budget.

We will tell you what to cut

On a fixed budget, doing three things well beats six adequately. We would rather help you prioritise than quote for everything.

Platform fees add up

Donation platforms take a percentage. Over a few years the difference between options can exceed what the website cost, and it is worth modelling.

Volunteer-built sites need care

Often capable, rarely documented. Taking one on starts with working out what is in it, not with a rebuild.

Questions

What charities ask us.

Do you offer charity rates?
We scope to the budget rather than discounting a fixed quote, which we think is more useful. Tell us what you have to spend and we will tell you honestly what it will and will not cover, rather than quoting for everything and leaving you to cut it.
Should we use a donation platform or build it in?
For most charities an established platform is the right answer — it handles Gift Aid, compliance and card security that you would otherwise take on. Building in makes sense at volumes where the percentage fee becomes significant. That is arithmetic, and worth doing before deciding.
Can we keep our supporter data in one place?
Usually, and it is often the most valuable thing we do. Connecting donations, memberships and event attendance so one person is one record changes what you can see about your supporters.
Next step

Tell us your budget and what matters most.

We would rather help you spend a limited budget on the two or three things that bring in income or save staff time than quote for a list nobody can afford.
